As a newbie, you will face opponents using different tricks to beat you. One of the famous ways is pressurizing the opponent. Fortunately, not every character in Tekken 7 can put a lot of pressure on you unless the opponent spams a lot a move that has plus frames and mixes up with another move that doesn’t let you make a move.
How I faced these annoying pressurizing moves?
I remember Nina, Hworang, Heihachi, Dragunov putting a lot of pressure on me but it helped me in doing some research to deal with those moves. Remember that every character has a different move set which needs to be tackled differently. But there are some ways that are mostly universal and should help you escape the pressure. I am listing down a few of these which work most of the times.
The Magical Down Left JAB
When your opponent keeps mixing up different moves and you don’t find any way to stop that then simply do a small low left jab by pressing Down+Back 1 which is very fast and interrupts the opponent’s moves. This is very helpful against players like Hworang.
However, know that there are some characters like Lei Wulong who can’t perform Low Left Jab simply by pressing Down+Back 1 but most of the characters can do.
Tip:- Don’t overdo this JAB in front of an experienced player constantly because it can be low parried.
Side Step is there in Tekken since the beginning and it is the most advanced thing that the newbies lack but it is the most effective and a common thing to do which you will see pro players do all the time because every character has a set of moves that can’t track the opponent. If you get pressurized by the opponent, you can use sidestep to evade the attacks of your opponent and perform a punish or a launcher.
This one is certainly the most difficult thing to do as you need to know which moves can be sidestepped and which not. And that too varies with every character. You can’t simply guess otherwise you will get hit easily.
Down Pokes and Interrupting Moves
The first tip I mentioned above which is the Low Jab comes under the Down pokes too but there are other moves that can be used to stop or interrupt the attacks of the opponent. Great down pokes include Down 4 which a number of characters can do and a list of other fast moves that each character performs differently. Go to your characters moves list and see which is the fastest Down Poke it can do and mix it up with the Low Jab.
Power Crushing moves
Every character has at least one Power Crushing move which can’t be interrupted easily. If you use these then your opponent’s moves won’t affect you in that state of performing a crushing move unless he is also performing a crushing move. Your character’s life will be depleted a little bit but in the end, your opponent will fall on the ground which will give you enough time to recover and you can follow up to your opponent.
Tip:- Don’t do Power crushing moves when you are low in health and there is a chance of your character dying.
